Hayley sat in a chair outside school. She hated her sister new friend cause he didn't make a good first impression and then he was angry because he wanted her dead well what a friend. She missed her father. When Becca and Hayley didn't live together she never could protect her and now she know that she failed.

Lan quietly approached Hayley and said softly "I am sorry about our .. first encounter. I could explain why I reacted so .. the full explanation but I will keep it simple. I am Becca's warder, we are linked in a potent way, if harm comes to her I feel it ten fold and so that makes me .. very protective naturally of her since we .. we have this bond ... I reacted as I did out of instinct and I am sorry.."

'' yeah yeah go bother her with it '' hayley said and looked away.

He crossed his arms "And why would I bother her with some affront I caused YOU. I have caused her no affront but I have done for you ... unintentionally but I have .."

'' so? do i need to get on my damn knees because you were sorry? if you knew me you knew it wouldn't help okay so get lost or kill me '' hayley growled and looked down. the picture of her father and her in her hands.

Lan shook his head "And if you knew me you would know telling me to do something will not work. But if you ask I will oblige to take your life or leave, your choice."

'' yeah whatever romeo '' hayley held her picture close to her chest. '' dead is the only thing i am not afraid of '' she whispered to herself.

His keen ears picked up what she mumbled and he said softly "One who does not fear death is the strongest and the weakest, you fear nothing else Hayley?"

I looked up at him and felt like a little girl. '' not yet '' i told him. I was planning to kill the volturi member who killed my father before i even could get my life going on.

He smiled softly "DO you not fear the very fear your mind conjures up? Most people do. I do not and I am sure you do not."

'' wanna know what i fear? losing my sister thats the only thing i am scared of '' Hayley got up. her picture in her hand.

Lan nodded grimly "Then we both fear the same. I fear failing your sister." he said softly "We have a common goal then .."

'' no we don't have anything incommen NOTHING '' she shouted and hit the table which broke into pieces.

He arched his eyebrow and said quietly "As you say. We do not both wish to keep Becca from harm if you say so, you can hate me all you want but it changes little. Only thing it changes is that I will give up on hoping to make amends and be friends, I hold one friend here. I am not of this reality so I know few people.." he laughed grimly then "IF you hate me so then so be it."

'' hate? '' hayley grinned. '' i don't HATE you i hate myself and my whole life. they should have killed me when they got the chance '' hayley said and kicked the wood.

Lan sighed softly "Hayley. I will .. explain something. I have seen all that I held dear slip through my grasp twice, ripped from my reality of birth, where I had no family and none of my people, my entire nation butchered. I was named the beggar king or the sword king because I fought a personal war, I was ripped from that realm into a realm of strife and turmoil to stand upon the end of civilisation and guardian against the walking dead and now I am here and here is the only place I have not lost what I hold dear, I hold your sister dear, she is the ONLY reason I am still free and alive. Perhaps now we can understand each other better."

I blurred to the sound of Hayley's shout. I staggered back a half-step. "What happened?"

'' you don't understand so don't bother okay just leave me alone you don't know me and you don't wanna know me so please get lost '' hayley turned to becca. '' nothing i was just leaving '' hayley said and knew that this life sucked. She grabbed her keys as she dropped the picture of her and her dad.

"Hayley, I do want to know you because what ever your past and your faults you are a strong person, that is obvious and I respect you even if you hold no respect for me."

I bent down and picked up the piece of paper Hayley dropped. "Hayles, you dropped-" I looked at the piece of paper and my sentence stopped short. "Hayles !" I called after her.

I danced foward and gave Hayley the picture. "You kept this?"

hayley took the picture. '' yeah its the only one with dad '' she said quietly.
