I shook my head. "I guess I'm a masochist." My thoughts flowed to what could happen in consequence to Lan's fight. I shuddered.

I laughed as I saw Mrs Newton, the owner of Newton Outfitters, and also one of the biggest gossips in town.
I leaned over to Lan, and kissed him, not sure whether he was serious, not really caring.

I mirrored his smile and realised Mrs Newton had gone. I cleared my throat and pulled my hand away, embarrassed, but hiding it as much as I could.
